magazine$54.7bn: Netflix’s blockbuster value creation
This is the amount of value created by streaming movies and TV service Netflix in the 15 years since its $6.4bn IPO in 2002. Today it is worth $61.1bn.
Bear in mind the old videos rentals business Blockbuster turned down the chance to buy Netflix just months before the latter joined Nasdaq, a gobsmacking mistake costing that company the ultimate price – Blockbuster has since gone bust. (SF)
