Safestore appoints David Hearn as chairman

Self storage group Safestore said it had appointed David Hearn as its new chairman, effective at the start of the new year.

of the Company with effect from 1st January 2020.

Hearn was currently chairman of New Zealand dairy group a2 Milk Company and had been a previous chief executive of Australian bread maker Goodman Fielder in Australasia, United Biscuits in Europe and Asia and Cordiant in the US and the UK.

He would succeed Alan Lewis who announced in Januaryhis intention to retire from the board following five years as chairman.

'David will be an excellent successor and brings a proven track record of chairing companies through significant expansion,' chief executive Frederic Vecchioli said.

'His extensive experience and commercial knowledge will be invaluable to Safestore as we drive the business forward through our next phase of growth.'
