Consumer price inflation cooled in Ireland this month, according to preliminary figures on Thursday.
The Central Statistics Office’s flash estimate for harmonised consumer prices was an annual increase of 2.2% in February. This represents a slowdown from 2.7% in January. Harmonised figures are calculated to allow for EU-wide comparison.
In February from January, prices are estimated to have grown 0.9%, after falling 1.4% in January from December.
The CSO estimated that energy prices rose 0.5% over the month, but fell 6.3% annually. Food prices saw a monthly rise of 0.5%, and grew 3.7% over the year.
