Seplat Energy on Monday said it is in talks with its departing chair regarding a future role with the Nigeria-based energy supplier.

Seplat Energy said that it is currently discussing with Ambrosie Bryant Chukwueloka Orjiako how he can assist with the specific and essential external stakeholder engagements he is currently involved in, which will continue beyond the date he steps down.

Seplat in November said Orjiako was to step down following the company's annual general meeting in May. Seplat on Monday confirmed he will step down following May 18's AGM.

The company added that no contract for a future role has been finalised yet, and the contractual role to be performed by Orjiako will not conflict with the role of the incoming independent non-executive chair.

Seplat Energy closed 0.8% higher in London on Monday at 127.50 pence.
