Altus Strategies said it had discovered a number of new gold prospects from its exploration programmes in northern Ethiopia.

Reconnaissance work to date at the Zager project had discovered two new prospects associated with hard rock artisanal gold workings and quartz veins that were among the largest observed to date, up to 10m wide and with individual shafts reportedly reaching a depth of 15m, the company said.

The company said it was carrying out a sampling programme at Zager to define the highest priority targets.

At the Daro project, meanwhile, historical exploration data indicated the presence of a copper anomaly, which had the potential to extend the strike length of the Simret prospect by a further 1.2km, the company said.
