Flexible power generator Plutus PowerGen said its application for planning permission to develop a gas-powered site in southwest England had been rejected on the grounds of perceived poor air quality.

'The board are disappointed by this initial rejection and are considering all options available to them, including, but not limited to, an appeal,' the company said.

'The board remains confident in its FlexGen strategy of bringing online further high-margin gas operations and has a pipeline of other prospective peaker sites.'
