Urban housing regeneration specialist MJ Gleeson said that chief executive Jolyon Harrison had stood down with immediate effect.

He had been in the top job since July 2012.

'Following extensive discussions with Mr Harrison regarding his remuneration and succession planning, the board concluded that it was not possible to find a mutually acceptable basis for Mr Harrison to continue as CEO,' the company said.

James Thomson, a former CEO of housebuilder Keepmoat Homes, had been appointed CEO on an interim basis while the company searched for a permanent replacement.
