Filtronic PLC - Leeds-based antenna maker - Wins a new contract with an unnamed ‘quantum computing company’ for the design, development and supply of microwave filters and diplexers. Filtronic says the contract, valued at £350,000, was awarded to the company because of its experience of designing compact, high-performance filter and diplexer modules.

Chief Executive Officer Richard Gibbs says: ‘We are delighted to win this contract demonstrating the flexibility of the technology we offer and its use across many adjacent markets. Filters are a cornerstone of our heritage, and we will continue to seek out opportunities for this technology in products and markets that require complex solutions and are non-commoditised.

‘Quantum computing is an exciting new market which we believe could lead to further work.’

The application will be used within the microwave circuits of both the external control rack and the cryogenic dilution refrigerator of a quantum computer. Filtronic says the project is expected to be completed within its current financial year, which ends in May 2023.
