Promised price caps could be scrapped

Analysts at investment bank Berenberg have called a potential Government u-turn on energy supply price caps a ‘cop-out.’ The analysts now think the Conservatives might replace an energy price cap that was promised in the party’s manifesto with a consultation on prices, less than a year after a two year industry investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority.
