The UK attracted 2.9m overseas visitors in March 2017, an impressive 11% jump from the same month in 2016. That’s according to data from Office for National Statistics.

This should benefit hoteliers, retailers and airport operators.

Overseas visitors are also spending more as they coughed up a combined £1.5bn in the month, which is 14% higher than the consecutive period a year earlier.

In contrast, UK residents made 4.6m visits abroad in March 2017, representing 5% year-on-year growth.
