Funds and Investment Trust Writer

We’re looking for a talented Funds and Investment Trust writer to join our dynamic team and help us educate, inspire, and engage our audience. The Funds and Investment Trust Writer’s key role is to write articles for the AJ Bell website, create video and audio content, and contribute to events and webinars to help increase engagement with existing and prospective customers. 

About the role:

As a Funds and Investment Trust Writer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling, accurate, and engaging content that aligns with our brand voice and supports our mission to simplify investing for everyone. You will collaborate with various teams, including marketing, PR and product, to create high-quality content that resonates with our audience and drives user engagement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, write and edit a variety of content for retail investor audience on a range of topics, but with a specific focus on funds, ETFs and investment trusts.   
  • Contribute to AJ Bell’s monthly digital publication, Shares magazine. 
  • Appear on the AJ Bell Money & Markets podcast as an expert and provide ideas for the investment trust and deep-dive podcast series. 
  • Appear in videos for the AJ Bell website, to create engaging and educational content for customers. 
  • Speak at webinars and live events on fund, ETF and investment trust topics, to engage with AJ Bell customers. 
  • Convert PR content into articles for the AJ Bell website, working with the website content team. 
  • Simplify complex investment concepts into easy-to-understand language for diverse audiences, as well as understanding and writing more complex content for experienced investors. 
  • Optimise content for SEO to increase visibility and traffic. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments and financial news to ensure timely and relevant content. 
  • Maintain and adhere to the brand’s tone, style, and content guidelines. 
  • Formulate new content ideas that are in line with AJ Bell’s business objectives. 
  • Analyse content performance metrics and use insights to refine strategies and improve engagement. 
  • Support and enable the business to deliver good outcomes for retail customers by helping achieve any regulatory requirements, including consumer duty. 

Competence, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proven experience as a financial journalist covering the funds, ETFs and investment trust space, or in the asset management sector where a key part of your experience involves writing and presenting on funds, ETFs and investment trusts. 
  • Experience with multi-media formats: writing, videos, podcasts, in-person presentations, hosting or participating in webinars.
  • Good understanding of the finance industry, including pensions, ISAs, investing and personal finance.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to properly structure both long and short-form content.
  • Numerate and good with spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience using metric tools is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
