Are there any special requirements before I can deal in international markets?
There are only special requirements if you hold North American investments in a Stocks and shares ISA, Lifetime ISA, Junior ISA or Dealing account. For US investments, you’ll need to complete a W8-BEN form, and for Canadian investments, you’ll need to complete an NR301 form.
You need to complete these forms to ensure you pay withholding tax at the reduced ‘treaty’ rate. You’ll find both forms on our Useful forms page.
When you’ve filled out the relevant form, please scan and email it to email@example.com. Or you can print and post it to:

You won’t be able to invest in US or Canadian shares until you complete and return these forms.
