FTSE nears open as Asia mixed, Wall St firmer

London stocks are poised to open after mixed trade in Asia this morning, and gains on Wall St overnight on Friday, with traders looking to UK housing data and US industrial and manufacturing figures this afternoon.


On Wall St overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.22% to 18,138.38, the S&P 500 firmed 0.02% to 2132.98 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.02% to 5214.16.

In Asia this morning, the Nikkei 225 had risen 0.31% to 16,908.61, while the Hang Seng slipped 0.42% to 23,134.75.

At 6.04am, WTI crude was down 0.2% to $50.25/bbl and Brent was flat at $51.95/bbl. Gold was down 0.06% to $1254.7/oz.


Shareholder meetings are due to be held by Clipper Logistics and Tristel, while final results are in the diary for Avacta and Tristel.
