FTSE opens lower than expected, following gains from Monday's sell-off

The FTSE opened low this morning, down at 6,968, but climbed to 7,021, better than expected, following strong retail forecasts, boosted by consumer spending during the euros.

The FTSE had been gaining this week following Monday’s sell-off, but closed poorly yesterday.

Oncimmune, the immunodiagnostics group working to change how cancer is diagnosed and treated, has announced it has entered into a profiling contract with Dana-Farber (DF) Cancer Institute.

Gateley, the legal and professional services group, has announced that Gateley Vinden ltd. has bought the business and assets of Tozer Gallagher, a practice of chartered quantity surveyors and construction consultants, for £700,000, plus an amount equal to the value of the assets acquired expected to be approximately £115,000.
