Private equity and infrastructure group 3i reported a rise in half-yearly, led by growth in its private equity portfolio.

For the six months to 30 September, net asset value per share rose to 873p from 815p seen at the end of March, and total returns grew 10% to 873p on-year.

Its private equity portfolio delivered gross investment return of £666m or 11%, driven by assets including Action, Hans Anders and Aspen Pumps.

Its infrastructure business saw a gross investment return of £88m, or 9%, driven principally by share price appreciation and dividend income from 3i Infrastructure.

The company declared an interim dividend of 17.5p a share, up from 15p a share.

'Our portfolio overall is performing well and the majority of our investments have decent momentum going into the second half,' 3i said.
