Rockhopper Exploration losses deepen after asset writedown

Rockhopper Exploration booked a deeper first-half loss after it wrote down the value of its Greater Mediterranean portfolio and its revenue slipped.

Pre-tax losses for the six months through June amounted to $16.5m, compared to losses of $7.4m on-year.

The loss included a $10.1m non-recurring non-cash impairment of goodwill associated with the Mediterranean assets.

Revenue fell to $4.8m, down from $5.2m, after the company experienced lower average oil prices.
