Cosmetics supplier Warpaint London swung to a first-half loss after disappointing growth in sales was offset by expenses.

Pre-tax losses for the six months through June amounted to £0.21m, compared to a profit of £1.32m on-year.

Sales rose 2.9% to £18.9m, though adjusted profit more than halved, falling to £1.2m, down from £2.6m amid a contraction in margins.

The company held its interim dividend steady at 1.5p per share.

'Our previous guidance remains unchanged,' joint chief executives Sam Bazini and Eoin Macleod said.

Sales for the full year were still expected to be about £50m and adjusted pre-tax profit in the range of £6m-to-£7m.
