Anglo American said the value of rough diamond sales at its De Beers unit had increased during the seventh cycle of 2019 to $280m from $250m seen in the sixth cycle.

The figure compared to $503m seen in the seventh cycle of 2018.

'With midstream participants continuing to work down polished diamond inventory levels and reduced levels of manufacturing in the key cutting centres, De Beers Group provided customers with further supply flexibility during the seventh cycle of 2019,' said Bruce Cleaver, CEO of De Beers Group.
