Disease and allergy testing company Omega Diagnostics said it had received its first purchase order for an HIV testing kit from its partner company in Zimbabwe.

The order was for 20,000 units of the VISITECT CD4 advanced disease test.

Whilst the product was currently undergoing review by the UNITAID-funded Expert Review Panel for Diagnostics, the order from Zimbabwe was not contingent upon conclusion of that process because it would supply into B2B marketing channels, rather than NGOs.

In August, Omega detailed its first 50,000 test order from Nigeria for its VISITECT CD4 350 test.

'These recent orders demonstrate there is demand for both versions of the test and the company is confident that demand will increase as the outstanding regulatory processes are completed,' the company said.
