Tlou Energy said gas had started emerging at a well at its Lesedi coal bed methane project in Botswana.

The Lesedi 4 pod had reached critical desorption pressure, the company said, meaning the pressure needed for gas to started coming out of coal after de-watering.

'Gas is now starting to come out of the coal and is steadily building pressure inside the closed casing,' the company said.

Tlou Energy also said that a short-term gas flow test conducted at its Lesedi 3 pod had yielded positive results.
