Tlou Energy said it had made technical progress at a well in South African with the aim of establishing a commercial gas flow rate.

The Lesedi 3 production pod had successfully reached critical desorption pressure, the company said.

Critical desorption pressure is the pressure at which gas begins to come out of coal after a dewatering process.

The separate Lesedi 4 well continued to be carefully dewatered in a consistent and controlled manner.

'The primary objective remains to demonstrate a commercial gas flow rate,' chief executive Tony Gilby said.
