UK consumer price index falls to 1.8% in January

The UK consumer price index, a key measure of inflation, fell to 1.8% in January, down from 2.1% in December.

The fall was deeper than market expectations for a decline to 1.9%.

The producer price index was negative 0.1%, below market expectations of 0.2%.

The retail price index was 2.5%, below expectations of 2.6%.
