Solo Oil said plans have been put in place for a second appraisal well at the Ruvuma petroleum sharing contract in Tanzania, which is operated by Aminex.
The Ntorya-3 well would be drilled on the Ntorya gas field discovery as soon as practically possible, Solo Oil said.
"Aminex is actively engaged with the Tanzanian authorities and third party engineering firms on advanced well planning and drilling management plans," it said.
Tendering is in progress for a rig, which would also be suitable for exploration and development drilling in the Ntorya gas field and potentially the company's other assets in Tanzania.
Aminex also announced that the Kiliwani North-1 well, in the separate Kiliwani North gas field, had produced an aggregate 95 million cubic feet of gas during the month of December.
