BBA Aviation appoints group CEO

BBA Aviation has announced that Mark Johnstone, currently president and chief operating officer of the group's engine repair & overhaul division, will join the board as group chief eExecutive on 1 Apr.

He will be based in Orlando, Florida.

Johnstone joined BBA Aviation in March 2008 as corporate development director and has held a number of roles within the group.

His appointment follows a comprehensive internal and external search process.

Wayne Edmunds will step down from his role as interim group CEO on 1 Apr and will remain on the Board as a non-executive director.

Chairman Sir Nigel Rudd said: 'We are delighted that Mark has accepted the role.

'The board feels that he is the ideal candidate to lead the group forward.

'Mark's strategic and operational experience in finance and in managing a number of the group's businesses over the last ten years gives him a deep understanding of the company and the right skills to take on the role of group chief executive.

'I would also like to thank Wayne Edmunds for stepping into the interim role and leading the business while we completed the search process.'
