President director Prijono Sugiarto said: ""Astra saw good performances from most of its businesses in the first quarter of 2017.
"Looking ahead, the Group is expected to benefit from the continued growth in the Indonesian economy, supported by higher commodity prices, although its automotive activities are expected to face increasing price competition."
Jardine Strategic Holdings' 75%-owned subsidiary, Jardine Cycle & Carriage Limited, holds 50.1% of PT Astra International.
