FTSE to open after mostly lower turns on Wall St, Asia

London equities will open in the aftermath of mostly lower performances by stocks ladders on Wall St and in Asia, with crude oil above $50 a barrel. Traders will be looking to key US employment data this afternoon.


On Wall St overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.36% to 19,191.93, the S&P 500 fell 0.35% to 2191.08 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.36% to 5251.11.

In Asia this morning, the Nikkei 225 had fallen 0.47% to 18,426.08, while the Hang Seng eased 1.2% to 22,604.42.

At 7.04am, WTI crude was down 0.24% to $50.94/bbl and Brent was down 0.65% to $53.59. Gold was up 0.53% to $1175.6/oz.


Interim results are due from Berkeley Group, while final results are expected from Urban & Civil. Axa Property holds a shareholder meeting.
