FTSE to open after mixed US, Asia amid ex-divs

London equities are opening after mixed sessions in the US and Asia, with a long list of ex-dividend stocks acting as ballast.

On Wall St overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.31% to 19,083.18, the S&P 500 firmed 0.08% to 2204.72 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.11% to 5380.68.

In Asia this morning, the Nikkei 225 had risen 0.94% to 18,333.41, while the Hang Seng fell 0.27% to 22,615.58.


Interim results are due from Charles Stanley, Caledonia Investments, Helical Bar, Mirada, Mothercare, PayPoint, Pets At Home, Severn Trent and TR Property Investment Trust.

Final results are expected from UDG Healthcare. Shareholder meetings are scheduled for CVS Group, Doriemus, Gemfields, Netcall, South32, Seeing Machines, Sqn Asset Finance Income Fund and Thor Mining.
