Active Energy Group PLC - London-based biomass focused renewable energy business - Says its CoalSwitch biomass fuel has been assessed for its carbon impact, in a study conducted by Life Cycle Associates, a Californian business and environmental consultancy. The analysis found pellet made from lumbermill waste, such as CoalSwitch, reduced CO2 by 99% relative to coal and 97% relative to nature gas.

‘This Life Cycle Associates analysis provides significant independent confirmation of the reduced GHG emissions incurred in the production of CoalSwitch. These conclusions provide much needed data to prospective customers of CoalSwitch who have asked for this information from AEG in recent months. We can now confirm CoalSwitch is not only sustainably sourced, but also provides significant performance improvements in greenhouse gas emissions as compared to coal and natural gas,’ comments Chief Executive Officer Michael Rowan.
