Van Elle Holdings PLC - Nottinghamshire-based geotechnical engineering contractor - Appointed to piling framework for West of Leeds section of Transpennine route upgrade programme in northern England. The multi-billion-pound rail programmes aims to improve reliability, increase capacity and reduce journey times between Manchester and York, via Huddersfield and Leeds, through electrification and re-signalling. Van Elle will work on the 42 miles of railway connecting Manchester and Leeds. It will provide engineering.

Current stock price: 40.50 pence, up 5.2% on Tuesday
