Pesticides supplier Plant Health Care said it had signed with CSL Behring Fermentation Facility at Pennsylvania State University to scale up for commercial production of its peptide products.

Plant Health Care said the initial industry response to its PHC279 peptide product had been 'very positive', following field trials in Brazil soybeans.

The first launches were likely to be into corn and soybeans in the US and in soybeans in Brazil for the control of Asian soybean rust, it added.

The university would provide facilities for optimising production methods, focusing initially on PHC279, including production of initial commercial quantities.

'We anticipate this project will take less than 12 months, after which the company expects to contract full scale manufacture with a commercial manufacturer,' Plant Health Care said.
